Super Coaches, Super Christians

"I'm proud to be the first African-American coach to win this," Dungy said during the trophy ceremony. "But again, more than anything, Lovie Smith and I are not only African-American but also Christian coaches, showing you can do it the Lord's way. We're more proud of that."

With those simple and humble words in front of millions of Americans, Tony Dungy struck one of the strongest blows for the cause of Christian faith that has been struck in America in a long, long time. There can be no doubt that he used his 15 minutes of fame in the way that pleased God. Would that we could all be that strong in our time of trial...

  1. Great story. He had a unique oportunity to honor the Lord and he used it. A successful black coach, who could critisize?
